The journey to the city centre is a pleasant walk, but the return can be a bit steep, making tuk-tuks a convenient alternative at around 300 LKR. The charm of this homestay lies in its family-run warmth. The hosts, Prabashi and her family, are genuinely welcoming and attentive, eager to share insights about local attractions and help arrange transportation. Anura, their driver, although limited in English, was incredibly kind and made our journeys memorable. While the decor feels slightly dated, it adds to the homely ambiance. The lack of modern distractions is offset by the inviting garden area, perfect for enjoying a quiet moment amidst nature. What stood out most was the hearty breakfast and delightful home-cooked dinners-definite highlights that embody the value offered here. The free tea and coffee facilities, along with laundry services, enhance convenience. For anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with a genuine local experience, the Hanthana Homestay is a smart choice that balances luxury and value.
